Whozit? Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 2, 2026
This policy describes how UVAGALAB LLC ("UVAGALAB", "we", "us") handles information in the Whozit? iOS app. Whozit? is a local-first personal contact-memory app: the people, facts, photos, and places you record are stored on your device, not on our servers.
Data stored on your device
Everything you create in Whozit? lives in a local database on your iPhone and stays there:
- Contact cards — names, facts, appearance notes, occupations, relationships, tags
- Encounter history, voice recordings, photos, and attachments
- AI-generated insights about your contacts
- Locations you define for nearby reminders
- Backup files you export (you control where they go)
We have no access to this data. It is not synced to any cloud service by the app. Deleting the app deletes it (export a backup first if you want to keep it).
Voice dictation and AI processing
When you use AI features, text derived from your voice is processed by a third-party AI service (OpenAI). This happens in one of two ways, and only after you have set the feature up:
- Your own OpenAI API key: audio and text go directly from your device to OpenAI under your own OpenAI account and their API data-usage terms.
- Whozit AI Pro subscription: audio and text are relayed through our server, which forwards them to OpenAI. Our server does not store your recordings, transcriptions, or contact content — it keeps only anonymous usage counters (number of requests and token counts) to enforce daily limits.
Dictated text may naturally contain personal information about you and the people you describe (names, relationships, stories). It is sent to the AI service only when you actively use an AI feature, and you always review the result before anything is saved. If you prefer, an offline transcription mode using Apple's on-device speech recognition is available and sends nothing to anyone.
Location
Whozit? uses your location to notice when you arrive at places you've saved (for example, your gym) and remind you who you know there. Geofence monitoring happens on your device through iOS. Your location is never sent to our servers or any third party.
Account (Sign in with Apple)
Whozit? works fully without an account. If you subscribe to Whozit AI Pro, you sign in with Apple, and our server stores: your Apple account identifier, the name and email Apple shares (which may be a private relay address), your subscription status, and daily usage counters. That is the entire server-side footprint — none of your contact data is ever on our servers.
To delete your account and this server-side data, email us at yo@uvaga.com (in-app account deletion is coming). Deleting your account does not affect the data on your device.
Subscriptions and payments
Payments are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple account. We never see or store your payment details. Apple notifies our server of your subscription status so the app can enable AI features.
What we don't do
- No advertising and no ad networks
- No analytics or tracking SDKs
- No selling or sharing of personal data
- No server-side copies of your contacts, recordings, photos, or notes
Children
Whozit? is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
